Adam Blade and Eve Neuschwanstein

"If the ii of us fight using the same technique, the one who wins... the i who wins is the i with the stronger fist!"

Adam Blade

NEEDLESS: In the near future, mankind has suffered from World State of war 3, leaving farthermost damage all over. Mankind has been forced to evolve. From this chaos comes a new species: "Needless". The Needless are humans who have contracted a "disease", every bit humans call information technology, which allows them to wield boggling powers. Their abilities include telekinesis, Elemental Powers, gravity control, adaptation, radioactive release so on, all seemingly incommunicable.

The manga (which is serialized in Ultra Jump) debuted in 2004 and ended in 2013, and an anime accommodation by Madhouse aired in the summer of 2009. The anime has been licensed for US distribution with an English dub rail by Sentai Filmworks, and is available online.

Not to be confused with The Needless.

Tropes:

  • Accidental Misnaming:
    • Cruz (aka "Yamada") and Teruyama (aka "Uchida"), both conferred upon them past Eve. Both of them don't like it very much.
    • A flashback reveals that when Blade and Eve first met as children, she chosen him "Ishida".
  • Adam and Eve Plot:
    • And they're not subtle near it. More specifically Eve was created for the sole purpose of bearing Blade'south children, as said by Gido in Vol.seven, due his DNA structure non being compatible with that of normal humans and other Needless. Adam Neuschwanstein might be the result of Gido's project... maybe.
    • Really in the manga it's revealed that the "Apple tree of Eden" is what evolved some monkeys into humans, and now the 666 wanted to use it again to evolve humans into gods. The all-time of the Adam series and Eve project were supposed to be the first to become gods.
    • And at present information technology's been revealed that Riru is the Eve created for Arclight.
  • Air-Vent Passageway: Used when Disk and co infiltrates the Simeon building to salve Blade. On the other hand, Seto and Solva aren't that subtle...
  • Alternating Universe Reed Richards Is Awesome: Kafka. When you starting time run into him, he'south the Warm-Up Boss. In the alternate past, however, he'due south a badass His You lot Shall Not Pass! toward the end further cements it.
  • Amazon Brigade:
    • Simeon'due south all-female Team. They as well star in the ED credits.
    • Simeon actually owns an entire army of bishoujo Needless.
  • And the Rest: The second exposition introduces the resistance as "A mysterious priest, Adam Bract! Eve Neuschwanstein! And others." followed by a group Face Fault.
  • Apocalypse Not: The Third Earth War destroyed major cities in the world including Tokyo, but near all of the world has been rebuilt and functions commonly as depicted in Needless Zero. However, Black Spots remain equally they were many decades agone.
  • Art Shift:
    • The Blade vs. Kuchinashi fight shifts into an odd sort of crude sketch manner before reverting to normal.
    • And briefly again in episode 13.
  • Ass Kicks You:
    • Mio uses both variations as her signature attacks.
    • Even so in a battle in Blade vs. the Daughter Squad, he was smiling as Mio's slowly lands on his face.
  • Author Appeal: Most every man is gigantic with huge muscles and some sort of Badass Longcoat while almost every female person is either petite or verging on Token Mini-Moe. The latter becomes more and more than prominent every bit fourth dimension goes on, as the huge musclemen are steadily phased out in favor of more and more cute little girls. It reaches a point where Blade himself becomes a cute girl in the final affiliate.
  • Awesomeness past Assay: Cruz. Though he lacks any bodily superpowers, he does take possess incredible faculties of assay and deduction, which lands him in the role of The Strategist fifty-fifty before he realizes it.
  • Dorsum from the Dead:
    • Anyone who is cloned and has their original memories is considered this. Uten, Kafka, and Teruyama were brought back as clones.
    • Double hits. The real Teruyama has revived past Mio. Fans rejoice.
    • Aforementioned goes with Seto and Solva, after Blade proceeds god powers.
  • Beehive Barrier: Eve can shape her artillery to form a hardened, metallic shield of this blazon.
  • Big Bad:
    • Adam Arclight. Partially. The Adam Arclight that Team Bract have been fighting the whole time was a clone. The real Adam Arclight is really Saten who shares the Big Bad spot with Gido, the leader of the 666.
    • In the anime, information technology turns out that the 666 committee were behind Arclight'southward rising to ability the whole time. However, cheers to Saten/Kyouji putting the Board to Death and Arclight in plow killing him off, Arclight returned to the meridian of the evil food chain.
  • Bizarre Baby Boom: The titular Needless, who are banished to the Black Spot.
  • Blasphemous Avowal: When Kafka claims, that his Razor Wire could only be cut past God and Adam Blade really cuts through them, he counters, that is makes him stronger than God.
  • Body Horror: Needless' regeneration will always be this, with Eve way ahead of the pack. Dr Mengrozes creations qualify as well.
  • Breaking the Fourth Wall: "You are the main character of this anime!"

Kana: You're (Hatfield) non the main character of this MUSTACHE ARC!!!

  • Bring My Brown Pants: Mio wets herself when Satan walks upwardly to her.
  • Calling Your Attacks:
    • Practically anyone who can fight is prone to this.
    • And Subverted with Kuchinashi, who only writes down the names of her attacks on a sketchpad. When she does call her ultimate attack, information technology's mortiferous.
    • Also before someone's fragment is revealed. They attack without saying their specail abilites.

Disc: Shout out a skill name and hit people!
Cruz: Wouldn't I be revealed instantly?

  • Captain Obvious: Cruz. As well Disk, who's ability is to burrow analyses in wads of cool-sounding Technobabble, but only ever uses her scan after the practical event, the only useful part of her observation, is already apparent to everyone.
  • Cerebus Retcon: You lot know how Eve has a really difficult fourth dimension remembering names? That'southward because she was trying really hard to remember Onda Shizuma.
  • Children Are Innocent: Subverted with Uten and Mio. And Run across-chanAdam Cyclops from NEEDLESS 1.five.
    • Clone Jesus: The goal of Shimeji Simeon. Adam Blade can supposedly become this if he memorizes enough Fragments... If he's smart enough to actually do that.
  • Article of clothing Damage:
    • Eve is a frequent victim... as if her outfit wasn't Stripperific enough already.
    • Lampshaded and subverted past the head mistress of St. Lily University. After deflecting Rin'south attack, she says that Wear Damage acts as the Life Meter in this manga and thanks to her steel clothes, she is invincible against Clothing Impairment and real damage.
  • Combat Tentacles: Arclight's preferred method of assault.
  • Comedic Sociopathy: To levels that first continually increasing halfway through the first episode.
  • Confessional: Subverted with Momiji Teruyama's introduction, the booth winds up getting destroyed.
  • Confusion Fu: Saten keeps his bodily ability secret and throws people for a loop with what appear to exist multiple fragments. In the Anime original material (first episode 22 or so) And he takes this even further by hiding his true status as an bogus Adam Project field of study, having had the "Aught" fragment infused into him.
  • Continuity Cameo: Adam Neuschwanstein, Adam Blade's rumored futurity clone/transexual form/girl from NEEDLESS i.5, makes an appearance in the 82nd affiliate of the main serial, a very cursory and almost purposeless one.
  • Cool Shades: Blade's. If they were a scrap more pointy and orange, they'd look about like Kamina'due south.
  • Cantankerous-Dressing Vox: Cruz is played past Aya Endo, commonly playing the Absurd Big Sis.
  • Cute Mute: Bishoujo Squad member Kuchinashi. Subverted.

    Everyone: KUCHINASHI JUST SPOKE!?!

  • Death Is Cheap: Pretty much anyone can be cloned and brought dorsum through such a manner. Though how they come up back is a different story.
  • Disguised in Drag: Cruz initially dresses equally a girl to avert suspicion at St. Rose Academy.
  • Distaff Analogue: Adam Neuschwanstein from NEEDLESS ane.5, the analogue of Adam Blade whose conection to him and Eve remains a mystery.
  • The Ditz: Eve Neuschwanstein combined with her inability to recall become into this trope.
  • The Dragon: Saten is the strongest of the Quirky Miniboss Squad, every bit proven when he reveals he is likewise part-God and obliterates Arclight and the 666 in the anime.
  • Due to the Dead: in the anime while Setsuna keeps an impassive face when Blade threw the corpse of some other member of the Pretty Girl Team, Kurumi, at her; Mio and Kuchinashi take the time to etch the corpse into a serene pose as Setsuna faces Bract downward.
  • Eye Catch:
    • A voice growls "NEEDLESS".
    • In the dub, It plays a guitar riff.
  • Face–Heel Turn:
  • Ane of the Bishoujo Squad has the power of 'Black Attraction' to strength this via Brainwash.
  • Teruyama. Though information technology turns out it's a clone of the original who is dead.
  • And And Gido who was actually ane of the two bigbad of the series.
  • Fanservice:
    • So, so much. Although the E Ds and episode half-dozen take it to near-extremes.
    • In the words of Adam Blade, "In that location's always room for more Panty Shots!"
    • For Part Two, the fanservice for Wholesome Crossdresser Cruz escalates ever single affiliate. The latest one even has the front end of his skirt ripped off, exposing his panties, with burl and everything.
  • Fate Worse than Death: The Pretty Girl Squad sans Mio in ch 109.
  • Fearful Symmetry: Eve, as Setsuna, forces her to fight herself.
  • Fish out of H2o: the very presence of police officers in a somewhat still stable society in Tokyo, Blade and friends had a difficult time trying to figure out what these people are while raiding the city, since in The Black Spot There Are No Police information technology was a completely new experience to the team.
  • Four Is Death: Simeon has a Quirky Miniboss Squad of four.
  • Funny Groundwork Event: Subverted. Arca complains that "Our family proper name is not Yamada" to a comically surprised Eve... While in the background, Cruz is holding his RECENTLY Cut OFF ARM in pain.
  • Gambit Pileup: Peculiarly noticeable in the manga, past chapter 110 information technology is revealed in that location were at least five different agendas on the table. Commitee 666, Adam Arclight, Adam Blade, Saten - are only iv of the involved planners, and very little you have seen in the early on capacity, will remain unchanged by this moment. City Arc as a whole is one big The Reveal.
  • Gecko Catastrophe: Starting from Saten interrupting the fight between Arclight and Blade, though the scenes with Saten after the elevator scene are anime-only too.
  • Gender Bender: In the finale, Adam fuses with Eve and becomes a woman, and uses his brief period of divinity to plough Cruz into a daughter.
  • Gender-Equal Ensemble: The main team for the bulk of the series consists of four men (Blade, Cruz, Gido and Teruyama) and four women (Eve, Disk, Seto and Solva). Subsequently on in the series, Mio more than or less permanently joins the grouping while Saten slips in and out of it, keeping the gender ratio relatively stable. Completely thrown out of balance in the final capacity, however, where Setsuna and Kuchinashi join the primary group, Gido and Saten, who are revealed to exist the Big Bad Duumvirate, are killed off, Blade becomes trapped in Eve's body and Cruz becomes a girl, making Teruyama the only human on a team of 8 women.
  • The Spectacles Come Off: Blade takes off his glasses when things gets really serious, or he never goes with them to said violent battle in the first place. After the PF Blast, Blade never used them again, information technology also served to quite mellow him out, he got noticeable less of a Jerkass ever since.
  • A God Am I:
    • Arclight. Judging from the history of the NEEDLESS world, what he said is non very far from the truth. Ouch.
    • Saten claims this, too. Unfortunately for him, Arclight disagrees.
    • It seems that quite a few needless take adult god complexes, comparison themselves to God either because they're truly that megalomaniacal, or to intimidate their opponents.
  • Good All Along: Arca sacrifices herself to salve Cruz.
  • Costless English: You know, the, uh, title of the evidence. Also in the OP/ED songs. "Are you ready to THE ACTION?!" "Jumping Prince Songs~" Also i thing y'all must recall.

    Disc: DESTROY Evolution!!!

  • Gravity Sucks: Seto's "Graviton" fragment.
  • Gorn:
    • Thankfully the anime largely averts this, but in the manga, Eve really destroyed Arclight's head with her drill... only to see information technology reform in front end of her.
    • In a similar case, Setsuna, Mio, and Kuchinashi have a fight with 2 other members of the Bishoujo Squad, Nanami and Misaki. In episode 7 of the anime, the scuffle is played played mainly for laughs, but in Affiliate 10 of the manga, Mio cracks Nanami'south head open up and Setsuna eviscerates Misaki.
    • As well in the manga Where Arclight eats anybody as well as other Needless in order to gain their powers.
    • The final chapter gives us probably one of the nearly disturbing shots in the manga. Gido tries to rush towards the dimensional gate equally it closes. He's too late and the gate closes on him. The following folio shows that it bisected him and gives us a good view of all his organs.
  • Hammerspace:
    • Fifty-fifty if Kuchinashi is stripped off, she still has her pen and paper to write down her words.
    • Episode nine gives u.s. Disc producing a Hyperspace Armory made upwards of numerous guns from underneath her skimpy one-piece apparel.
  • Headbutt Thermometer: Setsuna gives 1 to Cruz in the specials. However, she only does information technology to get a crude guess, and and then flips him around to try and get a more accurate reading using an... unpleasant... measuring technique.
  • Healing Factor:
    • Part of Eve'south doppelganger power. Non energy conserving. As well, Adam Arclight.
    • Later used on Yamada to save his life, thus opening speculation about Yamada having a fraction of Eve'southward ability.
  • Heel–Face Plough:
    • Mio, teaming upward with Yamada subsequently the Eden'due south Slice massacre.
    • And the anime allows Aruka to brand one right before the last battle.
    • Too in the manga, Geppetto'southward Living Doll replica BQ and Rin, the St. Rose Academy series bomber.
    • Let's not forget Saten, or should I say Kannazuki Kyouji, Dr Gido'south assistant?
  • Heroic BSoD: Cruz afterwards learning of Aruka's revolt. Her slicing him open didn't exactly help.
  • Heroic Comedic Sociopath: Blade, though to a slightly lesser degree than nigh examples. Slightly.
  • Heroic Cede:
    • Aruka. Subverted, it's just a facade to defect to Simeon. After played straight in the manga.
    • A more straightforward case is when Yamada had to elevate Eve out of the underground junkyard while climbing as information technology complanate..
  • High School A.U.: While the show has a school of sorts, the DVDs incorporate a series of bonus shorts set at St. Lily Academy, an all-girls' school with Cruz attention as "Yamada Nadeshiko". Disc is the teacher.
  • Huge Guy, Tiny Girl: A rare instance where this applies to every character. All of the male characters with the exception of Cruz are fatigued every bit towering musclemen while all of the female characters with the exception of Rira are drawn at the very least equally petite and at the very most every bit immature girl.
  • Humongous Mecha: The Darumi GT Mk. 32 EX68000 Nitro FC, a giant mecha daruma doll built and piloted by Kanna and her underlings.
  • Iconic Item: The Bishoujo Squad's panties. It gets to the betoken where Cruz is able to tell it'south Setsuna simply by looking up her skirt.
  • Idiot Hero: All the expert guys except Cruz and Gidou. Momiji Teruyama is a borderline case.
  • If It's You, It's Okay:
    • This exchange between Cruz and Kuchinashi (with her sketchpad)...

Kuchinashi: Don't worry, I'm not [that] interested in guys.
Cruz: I'm pretty sure "that" is written actually pocket-size in there!
Kuchinashi: ...guys who make good traps are a-ok.

    • Blade agrees about expert traps being a-ok.
  • I'm a Humanitarian‎: There are several cases of this but what happens to riru at the hands of the black attraction controlled pretty girl team (sans mio) in affiliate 109 takes the cake.
  • I'm Cold... So Cold...: Cruz says this in episode 17 after being burned/stabbed close to the eye by his sister and enemies.
  • Impaled with Extreme Prejudice: Lots and lots of people, merely the one with (literally) strongest touch on is Kurumi's death. The wooden pale that pierced her was almost her the size of her trunk. And that is non even the worst death-by-impaling in the manga. And don't forget Arclight.
  • Impossibly Tacky Clothes: When Strom, leader of the Overlord Club, is introduced, he is draped with a floral-patterned cape. And so, he decides to fight and his cape lifts up, revealing his Homemade Sweater from Hell.
  • I Never Told You My Proper name: Mio sneaks her way in Cruz's team. Though he doesn't discover out for sure she's a mole until she turns on them, Cruz quickly becomes suspicious of her when she calls him "Cruz" as opposed to "Yamada" (his nickname, which everyone in the team uses instead of his real proper noun).
  • Jobber: An entire squad of would-be heroes become introduced in episode 7 and are immediately killed past Adam Arclight.
  • Journey to the Center of the Mind: From chapter 76 onwards, Blade gets his memories materialized in physical course in order to Simeon know all his and Eve's secrets, just something goes wrong every bit Blade destroys the gimmick which invaded his listen, Cruz is hit with ane of Bract's memories shards which triggers the plot, with Cruz and Saten visiting the world former around seven years ago, as well borders with Alternate Universe as Blade's memories somehow shuffled joining his nowadays and past memories thus creating a different 7 years ago setting.
  • Kawaiiko: Mio, who comes dangerously close to tasting like diabetes.
  • La RĂ©sistance: The resistance that Cruz was in. Was.
  • Belatedly-Arrival Spoiler: The Fourth Elite. The story talks about how Simeon's Fourth Elite has never been seen, and how the Quaternary Aristocracy wears a mask to hide the Elite's confront. When the Fourth Elite finally does show upward, the serial makes no attempt to hide the color of the Elite'due south pilus and eyes, making information technology painfully obvious who information technology is. The third disc carte of the dub blatantly reveals it, as do the adjacent episode preview of the episode right earlier The Reveal.. as does the episode title of said episode.
  • Lens Flare: Especially when information technology'due south involving Bract's Cool Shades.
  • Lighter and Softer: The anime compared to the manga though but with a few cases. Otherwise it but has more blood.
  • Limited Wardrobe: Played directly since this is an anime. However, Eve'southward ability actually allows her to change her clothes, which she seldom does.
    • She has two oufits. Normal and Battle.
    • Somewhat justified because the entire part 1 (events of the anime) seems to takes place in the aforementioned solar day, and a lack of clothes can be an actual event for the characters due to fights and lack of residence.
      • After becoming a Girl Squad member, Cruz was afterward prone to losing his clothing to the point where he'due south ofttimes wearing tiny shreds to encompass himself with, despite having to keep the Girl Squad facade. He later wears a thin cloth to disguise as his sister, only to have that torn off again, giving Eve an inspiration for her current attire and having that literally taken from him likewise. Besides humorously stripped again past Saten just before returning from Blade's memories. Yamada finally gets another Daughter Squad uniform and panties in perfect condition... for now.
      • The Bishoujo Squad lose their original outfits getting past an Iron Mountain security arrangement, and switches to compatible. Nonetheless, they get the clothes back in office ii.
      • Disc has multiple bodies (with clothes) she tin can conveniently swap depending on the state of affairs. Seen so far: Disc'due south Fe Mountain torso, her smaller travel form which holds more data, and lastly (currently), her Full Armor Mode, which turns Disc into a total-fledged fighting graphic symbol.
      • Eve obtains and adds stockings to her clothes as a issue of Blade's fetish (due to Yamada's influence) in the alternate timeline. Eve later sticks with her Doppelganger clothes, possibly due to having to fight constantly. There's a lot about apparel to NEEDLESS.
  • Loophole Abuse: Information technology's a commonly known fact that all Needless only take one ability. What is Adam Bract's ability? Copying the abilities of other Needless, allowing him to freely use them. And it's a loophole he gleefully abuses. As it turns out, Adam Arclight and Saten share the same ability
  • Love Makes Yous Evil: In the anime Riru genuinely fell in love with Arclight later on their beginning meeting... when he implanted Eden's Seeds into her in a Nightmare Fuel moment...
  • Lovecraftian Super Power: Arclight, and Eve to a lesser extent.
  • Made of Iron: Adam Blade's bones are reinforced with metal. Needless in full general seem to be more durable than the average man.
  • Malaproper: Eve. Bract falls into also on occasion. Kuchinashi'south Talking with Signs frequently includes a stricken homonym of whatever information technology is she's actually trying to say.
  • Magic A Is Magic A: It is an established plot betoken that all Needless have exactly one ability, not more than. Although Adam Bract, Adam Arclight, and Saten/Kyouji Kannazuki are kind of abusing a loophole with their Power Copying ability.
  • Magic Skirt: Arca'south Simeon costume comes with one. Probably Justified, every bit she doesn't seem to exist wearing annihilation under it...
  • Mask Power: Arca, the quaternary of Simeon'due south four strongest prior to The Reveal.
  • Master of Illusion: Uten'southward "Bermuda Apport" power allows him to brand things invisible. It'due south a somewhat limited ability, simply he uses it quite effectively. His clone has a stigmata and is now capable of making annihilation invisible.
  • Master of Threads: Kafka'due south Needless Fragment is called "Kandata String". It allows him to create and command cord of enough tensile forcefulness to cutting through people, rocks, metal and even entire buildings.
  • Mood Whiplash:
    • Anybody is worried when a holographic screen showing Adam Arclight appears on the sky, and right earlier he finishes introducing himself...the guy takes four naked girls to the head. Cue the "We're having technical bug" screen with a poorly-drawn cartoon rabbit and turtle with a very childish background before switching back to the ominous mood once more. This is aided by the fact that Arclight wasn't used for humour up until that scene... nor after.
      • Should be noted that, when Arclight comes dorsum online, his fist is covered with claret.
    • Washed a lot more after that. At that place volition exist a dramatic moment... and then suddenly it's comedy for a bit. Subverted after the flashback we get of Blade, Eve, Gido, Arclight, and even Kyouji's past, where humour disappears.
  • Nigh-Death Experience:
    • Yamada had 1, subsequently he was sliced by his big sister Arca. The guys that were already expressionless fifty-fifty greets him "Welcome to Hell" and reserves a seat for him in their Mahjong table.
    • The anime gives Cruz a second one. This time, Blade pops up to requite him some genuine words of encouragement for in one case.
  • Nosebleed:
    • Blade + young girl = this.
    • Kuchinashi the first time Cruz starts crossdressing.
  • Number of the Creature: The 666 Committee which oversee Arclight and Simeon's actions. They're all Needless and pb by Gido.
  • One Steve Limit: At that place's both an Adam Bract and an Adam Arclight. Teruyama ends up mistaking one for the other.
  • Opening Narration: Every episode except the last five.
  • Our Angels Are Different: They're Eldritch Anathema aliens from some other galaxy which spread the virus that is the Edens seed.
  • Power Copying: Adam Blade's Fragment "Nix" Overcomes the "one fragment, ane power" brake by assuasive him to memorize other fragments. Adam Arclight has an even stronger version of this power, "Positive Feedback Naught", and is using it to become unbelievably powerful. And and so there's Saten...
  • Power Perversion Potential:
    • Disk's Scan ability can get together data almost anyone they might encounter. Bract'south starting time question? "Tin you lot give me girl'southward measurements?" It'southward used that way one-half-way through the series to "punish" Setsuna, Mio, and Kushinashi.
    • When Blade attains God-Powers, he resurrects Solva and Seto "naked".
  • Punny Name: "Kuchinashi" is the Japanese proper name of the gardenia flower. It also means "No-mouth".
  • Canaille Bunch of Misfits: Many Needless gangs in the Black Spot are exactly this, as mentioned in Needless Zero. In the current manga arc, Yamada had to assemble anybody — from murderous living doll to serial killer drop-out to mad young girl genius to a cyborg head to ward off an invasion past Simeone Clone Squad led by his sister.
  • Razor Floss: Kafka'southward "Kandatta Cord" power. Blade and, later, Arclight are able to do this after memorizing the motion. Of course, it commonly winds up being The Worf Barrage.
  • Rearrange the Vocal: The Killer Girls Idol Singer trio that appears in episode xix are singing a song that is, on closer inspection, a remixed version of the 2nd ending theme.
  • Robot Girl: Disc the informant, who is technically a Hollywood Cyborg, but comes beyond more as this. This also makes her Really 700 Years One-time (actually, only few decades older than she looks).
  • Scars are Forever: The doppleganger ability seems to leave no scars later healing whatever injury... on the anime, the manga shows it leaves scars, just enquire Cruz.
  • Surreptitious-Keeper: The headmistress of St. Rose Academy reveals to Yamada she knows he's not actually a student at that place. Withal, largely since he significantly helped in stopping the school bomber, she makes him an official student and farther states that his true identity is of no relevance to her.
  • Spell My Name with an "S": Is it Disc or Deejay? Arca or Aruka?
  • Super-Deformed: The 2d ending, which also features a Five Man Band Concert and more than gratuitous fanservice shots.
  • Superhero School: Supervillain, St. Rose High Schoolhouse which is endemic past Simeon to train its army of bishoujo Needless.
  • Surprisingly Good English language: Every fragment/ability in the series is listed with Kanji and a good English equivalent.
  • Talking with Signs: Kuchinashi. The anime is courteous plenty to actually show her writing them half the time.
  • Theotech: One of the primary characters of this sci-fi is a lecherous clone of a messianic figure named Adam Blade, who opposes the 666 Organization alongside his companion Eve.
  • There Are No Constabulary: To extreme levels, The Blackness Spot has no known Police force Enforcement Task Force and Police Units to speak of, information technology reaches culture shock later in the manga when Blade & Gang raids Tokyo, the presence of real constabulary officers attempting to stop their raid manages to makes the squad completely dumbfounded, with they living in The Blackness Spot since childhood, Bract and friends really has never even heard of such concept to protect and serve before.
  • This Is a Drill: Eve likes transforming her hands into drills.
  • Fourth dimension Skip:
    • Fifty-fifty before Imai Kami started working on Needless in a official magazine like Ultra Bound he had the whole storyline set in his mind years ago, back then he just wrote a few doujinshi stories and Needless one.5 is one of them, Kami confirmed that the story is fix two years afterward the electric current plotline; Needless 1.5 was nerveless officially in the Needless Null volume which is filled with prequel - before the current Needless - stories after said "sometime" in the future chapter. The chapter itself doesn't explain much information technology just features a daughter who looks a lot similar Bract, her name is Adam Neuschwanstein and she lives with Eve in the aforementioned regular church, Bract is nowhere to be seem, the girl just fights a few Testaments and nothing actually relevant happens. As Kami said the story is only set 2 years afterwards the current Needless is hard to assume Adam Neuschwanstein's conection with Bract and Eve every bit she is shown to exist around the same historic period as Eve in the electric current Needless, she might be a clone as she has Blade's neckband and a fragment on her forehead, or a gender-bent Blade, or a girl with an absurd growth spurt...
    • Based on the events of the final Chapter, the girl is really Bract who had fused with Eve resulting in her electric current appearance
    • Also is in Kami'southward plans to continue Needless 1.v after the current Needless is finished, on his web log he mounted an paradigm despicting a time-line flow chart with the current Needless to Needless 1.five, according to him if everything goes well it will eventually lead to Needless two afterward the current manga is finished.
  • Trademark Favorite Nutrient:
    • Eve's Super Derodoro Drink. Annotation that it'due south different from Super Practiserodoro ("Muddy") Potable - which is probably the generic version or somesuch. The sometime contains 5000 kcal(!) per can; Eve needs much more that to apply her Doppelganger Fragment.
    • This is spoofed in episode 6, where she cockily challenges the Bishoujou Squad later downing a can... Only to find out that information technology'due south Derodoro Light, which contains no calories at all. As Eve herself puts information technology: "WHAT THE HELL'S THE Point, So?!
  • Took a Level in Badass:
    • Afterwards, Yamada Cruz becomes one. The most interesting office is that he become ane while being a Wholesome Crossdresser. That's NEEDLESS for you.
    • Setsuna and Mio, at least. Kuchinashi is later revealed to actually be a lesbian, and in the manga, is currently crushing over a crossdressing Cruz.
    • Also in the DVD version. Where she likes to Strip naked while sleeping with Cruz.
  • Twinkle Smile: Blade in the starting time opening, while showing off his six-pack.
  • Unsound Event: The well-nigh common is "dramatic" for when something dramatic happens or someone'due south but beingness overblown, merely as well "pleasant" used for punching someone in the face.
  • Used to Be a Sugariness Kid: Blade. Yep that Blade. Gido wonders where he went wrong.
  • Utopia Justifies the Means: In the anime, the reason Arca joined Simeon was to create a paradise for all Needless.
  • Vapor Wear: Arca, whilst in her Simeon costume. Lampshaded by Cruz in the preview segment at the end of episode 17.
  • Voluntary Shapeshifting: Eve's Doppelganger power.
  • Waterfall Puke: When Blade and Momiji get a taste of Eve's Super Derodoro Drink.
  • Wave-Motility Gun: Saten's ability can exist used for this, amongst other things.
